The 5th Wave (Movie review)

June 10, 2016

Hi everyone, I've not done something like this before so you'll have to bare with me. All the opinions in this review are entirely my own as well. No spoilers. So, my mum bought this film and I thought it would be a load of rubbish, like most other films she watches but I was pleasantly surprised.

The story line is: A deadly alien attack consisting of four waves has left most of the Earth in ruin. Against a backdrop of fear and distrust, Cassie is on the run, desperately trying to save her younger brother who she was separated from. As she prepares for the inevitable and lethal fifth wave, Cassie teams up with a young man who may become her final hope - If she can only trust him.

The main character Cassie is played by a fairly well known actress, Chloe Grace Moretz. She stars along side other stars such as Nick Robinson, Zackary Arthur and Alex Roe just to name a few.

I believe this is actually a series of books and the cliff hanger ending would suggest that their are a few more films to come and  actually can't wait! It's another young adult series of novel and in all honesty this film reminded me of The Hunger Games which I suppose isn't a bad thing because that series is also another great one.

I watched this film with my family and everyone loved it so it's suitable for a variety of ages. The film itself has a few twists and turns which shock you and I was hooked from the very beginning I didn't actually intend on watching it but I was drawn in and ended up sitting down (not doing uni work tut tut) and watching it all the way to the end.

The only downside was the ending, I'm pretty sure they've left it as a bit of a cliff hanger in order to make films based off the next few books. But other than that I was pleasantly shocked and the books will be added to my 'Books to read' list!
