Before he Kills: A free read!

January 21, 2017

Hello lovelies,

I stumbled upon this book on Amazon and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that the Kindle version was free. I'm not one to turn down a freebie and this book was no exception so I decided to give it a go.

The book is about a female detective investigating the murder of a stripper whose body was found tied to a pole in the middle of a cornfield. Detective White is young and underestimated by her male colleagues who feel threatened by her. She soon realises this isn't a one off murder and that they are dealing with a serial killer which only Detective White is smart enough to catch.

It was my first time reading one of Blake Pierce's books and although it was gripping I found the book was full of little errors whether it be an error in the story (at the end of the book) or grammatical errors throughout the book. However, I don't blame the author it's more the editor who failed to miss these mistakes.

Errors aside, the story itself was very good it kept you interested all the way through and at times I struggled to put the book down. The answers were right in front of her face and it's nice to see the story unfold. I feel like the ending was good, but could have been better. There were a lot of chapters about her and her partner splitting and I don't see how it was relevant to the story, so if probably could have been missed out.

In short: A good book which could do with a proof-read, it's part of a series what I probably will not be reading sadly. However, to say the book was free I was pleasantly surprised.

My rating:

If you like the sound of this book the links to purchase both the kindle and hardcover version are below. Please note, only the Kindle version is free.

    1. Yeah I know, it was a good story just a shame about the errors and certain chapters I felt were just to bulk the book out more than anything?
