Films I watched in April

April 30, 2017

Hello lovelies, here is a collection of the films I watched this month along with a brief synopsis and my thoughts:

The Conjouring 2 (2016)
"Ed and Loraine Warren travel to north London to help a single mother raising four children alone in a house plagued by a malicious spirit. Based on the true story of the Enfield Hauntings."

Based on a true story which I've heard of and find fascinating myself. This film had me with my head behind a pillow the whole way through. This film is by far better than the first, purely because I can't remember most of the first. I don't think so will be able to get to sleep after watching this film it was both jumpy and scary!

My rating:

Nerve (2016)
"A high school senior finds herself immersed in an online game of truth or dare, where her every move starts to become manipulated by an anonymous community of 'watchers'."

I have been wanting to watch this film for quite some time I was going to read the book too but never got round to it. I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed this film the cast is great there are a lot of people from Orange Is The New Black in this film. The concept is brilliant and keeps you intrigued all the way through it had me on edge a few times. 100% recommend it, the ending is a real surprise and it made me so happy!

My rating:

Fate of The Furious (2017)
"When a mysterious woman seduces Dom into the world of terrorism and a betrayal of those closest to him, the crew face trials that will test them as never before."

I must admit I never saw 1 to 6 of this film but my boyfriend dragged me to see 7 so I had to go see this as well and it was amazing. Action packed, funny and an amazing sound track as always with these films. The story was great and I found myself really tickled by some of the one liners. Great film, shame to see Paul Walker not there anymore...

My rating:

The Shallows (2016)
"A mere 200 yards from shore, surfer Nancy is attacked by a great white shark, with her short journey to safety becoming the ultimate contest of wills."

I love Blake Lively so I just had to watch this. Similar film to Jaws, she's a surfer who is attacked by a shark and is stranded on a rock overnight. I'm not sure what to make of this film, I didn't love it but I didn't hate it. It was interesting throughout and a happy ending which is always good to me!

My rating:

Don't Breathe (2016)
"Hoping to walk away with a massive fortune, a trio of thieves break into the house of a blind man who isn't as helpless as he seems."

Really weird film. Three people break into a blind mans house and he isn't as innocent and helpless as you think. In fact, the story is really sick and twisted. I found myself shouting at the TV because the thieves were soooo stupid. Having said that though, it was a good film! The only criticism I have is how dark the film is all the way through at times I couldn't make anything out on my screen.

My rating:

Me Before You (2016)
"A girl in a small town forms an unlikely bond with a recently-paralyzed man she's taking care of."

It's been a while since a film has made me cry. A ditzy girl applies for a job to look after a paralyzed man and has no idea what she's doing. It's funny, it's sweet and then it's sad. He actually wishes to end his life legally in Switzerland and it's a roller coaster of emotions all the way through.

  14. I have actually watched a lot of these which makes me really happy! I loved Conjuring and Don't Breathe, I will be watching Fast 8 either today or tomorrow so really glad you liked it. I liked The Shallows but again pretty predictable, I too watched it because Blake Lively was in it and I love her. Great post! Xx

  15. I consider myself a movie buff and I've watched some of the movies you mentioned. I love Nerve, the game might not be true, but it depicts how people nowadays uses social media. Some doesn't really have remorse nowadays on what they share online, even it causes other people's lives. I also watched Conjuring 2 and Don't Breathe but I like the latter more! That blind dude was really scary even though he's not a supernatural being. Honestly, if I see that nun demon, or that blind dude IRL, I'll be more scared on that human LOL

And lastly, I watched Me Before You even though I'm not into romantic movies because I've heard so much about the "ending controversy" Personally, I don't find the ending offensive. It was simply his choice.

Anyway, I haven't watch The Shallows, I'm not really interested in another Shark movie. And I haven't watch Fate of The Furious yet as well because I opted for Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2. I used to love the Fast & Furious franchise but after their fourth movie, I only watch them when they're available in cable TV. The story has gone ridiculous! If you want an action movie about cars, I highly recommend Mad Max Fury Road :)

    1. Yes yes yes! I love the meaning behind nerve too, and the comment about Me Before You I agree with too. If that's his choice no one has a right to stop him really...

  16. I really liked Me Before You but a lot of people complained that it wasn't true to the book, I think your rating is spot on - The Bumblebee Tights!!! I started watching Nerve but didn't finish it so I definitely will now if you've rated it so highly. I've been wanting to watch The Shallows but it's not on Netflix! Love your reviews, so easy to read and follow.
