Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask

May 16, 2017

Hello lovelies,

I am very excited to be reviewing this product, it has been on my wishlist for quite some time and I have finally bought it. So this is the Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask which you can get from The Body Shop and it costs £16. This mask contains bamboo charcoal, green tea leaves and organic tea tree oil which are all insanely good for your skin. It has also been formulated without parabens, paraffin, silicone or mineral oils.

The mask claims to draw out impurities and refine the appearance of pores for 'healthy-looking skin with a glow that shows'. It absorbs excess oils and over time can apparently give your skin a 'youthful glow'. Anyway, enough about the claims, let's see what it actually did:

Firstly, the packaging is lovely! It comes in a very strong glass jar, very simple but stunning design. When I first opened it my initial reaction was to smell it, unlike most clay masks it smells gorgeous. The tea tree oil and tea leaves smell very refreshing but not too overpowering. You can also see that there are bits of (what I assume are) tea leaves and bamboo which are the exfoliating factors.

To apply, simply remove any make-up, cleanse your skin and then apply a thin layer. I applied the mask to my T-Zone and chin as this is where I am most oily and where I get most spots. You could apply it all over if that's what you wanted to do though! You then leave the mask for 5-10 minutes to dry and wash off with warm water using circular motions to exfoliate.

When I first applied the mask it does tingle which is tells you to expect but don't worry, it isn't unpleasant. Once the mask is dry you can see slightly darker patches where you can visibly see the oils and impurities it has pulled out. This happened A LOT on my nose, which I expected! I then washed the mask off which was super quick and easy.

Immediately after my face felt really soft, smooth and most importantly - clean! My pores were visibly smaller and I definitely noticed that my skin looked nicer. I 100% recommend this mask! Lovely for a pamper night. I haven't been using it long enough to comment on the long term effects but so far, it's done exactly what it has promised!

  7. I've wanted to give this mask a go for ages! I've only tried a couple of charcoal masks and sometimes they can be a bit too harsh on my sensitive skin, but usually body shop is okay! Will have to definitely look into this one! xx

  20. I have been trying two masks from this range and so far so good. I did consider buying this one but I currently have an Origins Clay mask I am using so thought two of the same types would be a bit of overkill. I haven't bought anything from the Body Shop in ages and am happy with their masks x
