Walk All Over Cancer!

June 07, 2017

Hello Lovelies,

Earlier this year my auntie lost her battle with cancer, now, I am walking all over cancer in her memory! Walk All Over Cancer is a new fundraising idea from Cancer Research UK. The idea is simple: Walk 10,000 steps a day, every day in June. That's 5 miles a day based on the average persons stride, which means by the end of the month I will have walked the distance from London to Manchester (roughly).

The benefits are amazing. Doing the distance means I will build stamina, have a healthier heart and protect myself from a range of diseases - including cancer. It's also great for your mental health as it's such a great mood-lifter. Plus, it's a great way to raise money to help find a cure to beat cancer once and for all. I am already 7 days in and going strong!

As a children's nursing student I have met many children who are battling cancer, I even met children who managed to beat it! They are so brave, so courageous and so strong. I'm doing this for them, for my auntie and for everyone who is fighting. We can and will beat cancer! You can find my fundraising page below, but if you don't feel comfortable donating online I ask that you please, donate next time you see someone on the street fundraising!

  4. What a great cause! I lost my dad to cancer 4 years ago, so I know how much it hurts. But they serve as great inspirations to live our lives to the fullest!

  9. I've signed up for this. I haven't been successful the last 2 days but it's certainly making me think about how I can be more active and what choices to make. Enjoy :)

    1. Neither have I, work has made it really hard actually because of the departments and the weather has made it harder for me to make up for it on days off!
